The brief for the art practice was to create three abstract comics posters and after merch with them. Their creation went hard until I put a general idea behind it: music. Psychedelic rock, punk and heavy metal were suitable to turn them into posters. It all flowed by itself to the rhythm of a waltz.
The project was done as part of a brief at a HSE Art and Design school on my 1st year.
The poster is based on the feel of Iggy Pop's 'Run like a villian'. The rhythm makes you move, freak out and cringe, and by the end it's exhausting. A fleeing villain who, like in slow motion cinema, gradually collapses and folds from exhaustion. The crumpled masses, the thickening, the lack of air cause discomfort, tension and fatigue.
This poster is based on a song by The Doors. The theme of the road was close to Morrison and he wrote songs related to it more than once. The song 'Riders on the storm', with its rhythm and leisurely pace, creates a sense of frozen in the moment frame to convey that sense of unreality that one gets when travelling at night.
The Thunderstruck poster is based on the AC/DC song of the same name. It is as if lightning strikes the soft and light mass and starts to penetrate, destroying the mass. The music is very "dense" and active, tense and rhythmic. There is no empty space, so there is a sense of tightness and immediacy of the action.
